Grilled Pizza is all about getting your fresh ingredients ready, launching it in the hot uncompromising grill, then eating the deliciousness!
Ingredients
  • Pizza Crust, I used the 365 Whole Foods Brand pre made crust, its flat round and has small holes all over it
  • A Fresh Pizza Sauce/or You can use Roasted Tomatoes (use about two or three tomatoes, just make sure to cut the tomatoes in half and roast them on the grill for five minutes per side)
  • Toppings (I used onions (1 onion), spicy pre-cooked chicken sausages (2 links), fresh basil (about 8 leaves))
  • Mozzarella (use about half a ball of it)
  • Olive Oil/Red Pepper/Garlic/Oregano mixture for brushing on the pizza crust before grilling (extra flavor!)
Instructions
  1. First, I caramelized the onions for about 25 minutes, heated olive oil and butter in a pan, when melted i added the onions and pinch of salt and pepper for five minutes, then added pinch of sugar lowered heat for 20 minutes and watched it carefully so doesn’t burn
  2. Next take all of your ingredients outside to the grill and prep your pizza station at the grill.
  3. Next, I grilled the chicken sausages. About ten minutes and cut them into thin wheels.
  4. Next, I brushed my olive oil mixture on one side of the pizza crust and grilled for one or two minutes only.
  5. Then take out the pizza crust and flip it to the uncooked side, brush with olive oil mixture, and start layering the ingredients.
  6. I first added the pizza sauce (you can use san marzano tomatoes if you want, or even roast your own). This time i used “Sauces n Love Marinara Pizza Sauce” from Whole Foods bc it was seasoned nicely
  7. Then, I shredded the fresh mozzarella and layered it on top of the pizza sauce.
  8. Next I layered on the caramelized onions, and then added the chicken sausage wheels.
  9. Next put the pizza on the grill and cover the grill for about 3-4 minutes. Watch every couple of minutes and check under the pizza crust to make sure nothing blackens underneath.
  10. Now add some torn pieces of fresh basil to the top of the pizza. (I add the torn basil toward the end of cooking so the basil leaves don't turn black)
  11. Continue cooking the pizza another minute or two. You don't want to burn the crust, it cooks quickly, so watch carefully! Pizza is done when the mozzarella is melted and the crust underneath is golden brown.
